On October 5th, I had the pleasure of capturing a truly unforgettable wedding day in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With a classic and luxurious aesthetic, punctuated by rich pops of red, this wedding was a dream from start to finish. From the couple’s getting-ready moments at The W Hotel to their heartfelt Catholic ceremony at St. John the Evangelist and a lively reception at The Fairmont Water Works, every detail was beautifully curated and set against Philadelphia’s historic backdrop.
One of the unique joys of photographing Carly and Connor’s wedding was the chance to get to know them well before the big day. Since they also live in Nashville, we had the opportunity to capture their engagement photos right here in town. From our first session together, it was clear how deeply they care for one another and how much they value creating meaningful memories. Building that connection during their engagement session made photographing their wedding even more special, allowing me to tell their story with a deeper understanding of who they are as a couple.
The day began with the buzz of excitement as everyone prepared at The W Hotel, where stunning suites with a view of the city provided the perfect setting. Carly and her bridesmaids shared special moments as they prepared, laughing and sipping champagne, while we captured classic and candid portraits at the nearby Capitol building. Meanwhile, Connor and his groomsmen took to the hotel’s balcony for their own portraits, with the city skyline setting an urban yet elegant scene.
Next came the full Catholic ceremony at the beautiful St. John the Evangelist church. The ambiance of the church, with its timeless architecture and rich traditions, created an awe-inspiring backdrop for their vows. Surrounded by friends and family, the couple exchanged their promises, and I felt honored to capture the quiet, heartfelt moments that made this ceremony so special.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to The Fairmont Water Works. A trolley ride through Philadelphia added a nostalgic and fun touch, with the wedding party sharing laughs and anticipation for the evening ahead. Upon arriving at Water Works, guests enjoyed a sophisticated cocktail hour overlooking the Schuylkill River before entering the reception.
As guests walked into the reception, they were welcomed by an elegant atmosphere. The evening unfolded with heartfelt toasts, an unforgettable first dance, and celebrations lasting late into the night.
This Philadelphia wedding was a celebration of love and elegance, set against one of the city’s most iconic venues. Each moment, from the early preparations to the trolley ride and riverside reception, reflected the couple’s joy and style. It was truly an honor to be part of their day and capture memories they’ll cherish forever.
