Brienna + CJ’s elopement-style engagement session was a perfect example of an untraditional engagement session. A perfect solution for the couples who can’t decide between eloping and a big wedding. Why not do both!?

Although they are having a traditional wedding next fall, a part of Brienna would have loved to elope. This is why we did their engagement photos elopement-style. They dressed up and ran around downtown documenting their love in Nashville on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Getting congratulated and hyped up by every single group of people that passed. Talk about all the elopement vibes!

I always love encouraging my couples to think about their engagement session in a different light. These photos are a chance to capture your love, to document the beginning of this chapter of your life together. So, when we met up for coffee to chat about what they envisioned for their shoot, Brienna showed me her mood board for their session (complete with her mom’s veil from the 80s). You guys, let me tell you, I practically screamed. It’s been a dream to shoot an elopement in Nashville, I knew we were going to have a BLAST.

So, we very excitedly got to planning their session. This involved finding the dress she had in mind, picking out what CJ was going to wear, and planning where we were going to go downtown. Since they knew they wanted some photos in a coffee shop, one of their favorite places, we started there. Easily, one of my favorite tips for engagement sessions is to do something you love together. Pick out your favorite date activity and let’s do it. Then, we decided to just run around the streets nearby. Then, after that, Brienna + CJ changed into something a bit more casual to finish out the session. Which is one of my other favorite tips for giving your engagement session some variety.

I truly, cannot wait to document their wedding day next year.
