Some weddings feel like stepping into a dream, and Sloane and Wes’s wedding in September was exactly that. Under the warm glow of a late summer Saturday, these two celebrated their love in the most meaningful way—surrounded by 200 of their closest friends and family in Sloane’s family’s backyard in Louisville, Kentucky.

This wasn’t my first time photographing Sloane and Wes in such a meaningful space. Earlier that year, we captured their engagement session in the same backyard in Louisville, which made their wedding day feel even more special. Documenting their journey from their engagement to their wedding felt like watching their love story come full circle in the most beautiful way.

The ceremony took place at the base of two towering pine trees, a natural and sentimental setting that couldn’t have been more perfect. Sloane and Wes exchanged their vows in a deeply emotional moment, but before walking down the aisle, they chose to share a private vow exchange. It was here that Sloane revealed the veil she wore—a cherished piece that had belonged to Wes’s late grandmother.

Sloane’s bridal style was effortlessly romantic. She wore a stunning Daughters of Simone gown, perfectly paired with floral Loeffler Randall heels. Her look was complemented by florals in soft spring-inspired tones, adding a light and airy touch to the warm summer day.

After the heartfelt ceremony, guests moved further into the backyard for a lively cocktail hour before gathering under a beautifully decorated tent for the reception. The tented space was brought to life with elegant details, glowing lights, and the incredible energy of a live band.

Sloane and Wes created a wedding day that was intimate yet lively, meaningful yet fun—a true reflection of who they are as a couple. It was such a joy to capture their day and all the love that surrounded them.

If you’re planning your own backyard wedding or looking for inspiration for a meaningful and heartfelt celebration, Sloane and Wes’s day proves that magic happens when you blend personal touches with thoughtful details. This day was shot on a mixture of digital, Polaroids, 35mm film, and 120mm film.
