When I think about engagement sessions, I always aim to create something that feels personal, meaningful, and reflective of the couple’s story. This summer session in Louisville, Kentucky, checked every box and more. From the tranquil waters of a sailboat to the intimate charm of a family backyard, this day was a perfect blend of adventure and sentimentality.
We began the session aboard a sailboat owned by a friend of the couple. The warm evening light reflected off the water, creating the most romantic glow. As the sailboat glided across the lake, the couple shared laughter, quiet moments, and a few glasses of champagne. It felt like a scene straight out of a movie—peaceful and effortlessly beautiful.
After a bit of time on the water, we transitioned to the bride’s parents’ backyard, a place already brimming with meaning as the location of their upcoming wedding. The yard, lush with late summer greenery and accented by sentimental touches, felt like a glimpse into the future celebration. Surrounded by fireflies and the lingering warmth of the day, the couple embraced the comfort and love of home.
Documenting moments like these—where every location and every detail holds significance—reminds me why I love what I do. This session felt less like work and more like preserving memories that will only grow in meaning over time.
